Congratulations to our Employee Excellence award recipients

Each year Lethbridge College recognizes and celebrates employees who go above and beyond to promote our core values of people, excellence and success. Winners are nominated by their colleagues for Service and Innovation, Leadership and Creating Community and Lifelong Learning awards to acknowledge their phenomenal contributions to the college and commitment to the community. This year’s 14 recipients will be honoured at the college’s annual Employee Recognition Event on March 30.

Summer camp options for children and teens

Lethbridge College is providing a series of fun, skill-building and safe summer camp opportunities for children and teens in August. Run by the college’s Be Fit for Life Centre, available camps include mountain biking, dance and Totally U G!rl, as well as a duathlon training program for adults and teens.

Servicing all regions of the province, Alberta’s 11 colleges have shown adaptability, innovation and care to make sure students were able to finish their programs on time.

Ideas and discussion emerge as outdoor play leaders meet at Lethbridge College

A full day of discussions, brainstorming and informed presentations were the highlights of the first Visioning and Leading Outdoor Play in Alberta Symposium, held on Tuesday, Dec. 12, at Lethbridge College. Educational and industry speakers led debate around the benefits of outdoor and unstructured play for children and the best way to adopt and implement strategies that support that goal.

Lethbridge College opens a dedicated Pride Lounge for LGBTQ+ community and allies

Lethbridge College now has a dedicated space for members of the LGBTQ+ community and allies to meet and socialize. The Pride Lounge was officially opened by members of the college community, the Lethbridge College Students’ Association’s (LCSA) LGBTQ+ club and Alberta’s Minister of Advanced Education Marlin Schmidt, on Monday morning.

Community input sought on educational needs of Taber and Area

Residents of Taber and its nearby communities now have the chance to provide feedback on the educational needs of the community and guide future programming. The Community Survey of Educational Needs is available online and will help gauge how Lethbridge College can serve the region.

Familiar face takes over Kodiaks cross country and indoor track teams

The Lethbridge College Kodiaks didn’t have to look far for a new indoor track and cross country head coach, as co-coach Simon Schaerz has been promoted to the top job. Schaerz takes over from Bertil Johansson, the winningest coach in Kodiaks history, who retired in November following 32 years at the helm of the Kodiaks.

A world-renowned cave diver who has explored some of the deepest and most inaccessible parts of our planet is inviting the southern Alberta community into her world. Jill Heinerth has been announced as the speaker for the second annual Wider Horizons… An evening with… speaker series next month at Lethbridge College.
