Excellence in Teaching and Learning

CTLI is a team of educators, researchers, designers, developers, technologists, and writers. We approach work and play with curiosity, and we value meaningful interactions.

Our mission is to unleash great learning experiences using design tools, agile processes, and flexible strategies. This includes building relevant, engaging courses; designing user-friendly processes and resources; facilitating strategy sessions; and providing support services for Lethbridge College students and employees.

We support both employees (instructors and staff) and students. Our approach is about meeting people where they’re at, when they need it most. We do this through a human-centred, collaborative learning system that ensures that you're equipped to achieve your desired outcomes.

Teaching and Professional Development

Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SOTL)

The Educational Development team supports instructors and staff engaging in the systematic study of teaching and learning with a focus on improving student learning. The team advances SoTL research by serving as a consulting resource (literature review, research methodology, development of ethics application, proposal development), and by partnering with instructors and staff as co-researchers.

Emerging Learning Models

The Emerging Learning Models (ELM) team consists of instructional designers who work closely with academic departments, college divisions, and external partners to provide expertise in curriculum development and project management to ensure the college's initiatives lead the way in educational innovation. We prioritize emerging models and technologies such as competency-based education, Universal Design for Learning, and generative AI. Collaboration, human-centred design, and accessibility are at the core of our approach as we guide the college community to explore innovative pedagogical strategies and develop learning experiences that evolve with educational trends and learner needs.

LC Studio

LC Studio provides support to staff and faculty in the form of multimedia objects, design consulting, writing, editing, and formatting. Services and deliverables include posters, infographics, writing and formatting of reports and course content, video, interactive learning objects – and potentially anything else you can imagine! We utilize a collaborative, human-centred approach to ensure that your learning experience connects well with its intended audience and enhances learning in a meaningful way (and we’d like to keep you happy too!). We also provide workshop facilitation on good design practices for both employees and students.
