Niculina Jensen is a student representative on the board of governors for the 2023-24 academic year. She is a second-year Practical Nursing student who started her path in health care at Lethbridge College in 2018 in the Health Care Aide (HCA) program. Jensen worked as an HCA at St. Michael’s Health Centre in both the long-term care and dementia units before deciding to return to the college and pursue her childhood dream of becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Jensen completed two terms as the Vice President of Operations and Finance for the Lethbridge College Students’ Association (LCSA), which allowed her to use her passion for helping others through student advocacy work within the college and provincially. During her time with the LCSA, Jensen gave presentations to college instructors and worked with library staff to demonstrate Makerspace and Open Education Resources and show how they can support students who benefit from different teaching methods. She has also given her time to tutor and mentor HCA students so that they, too, can succeed.

Once she’s completed the Practical Nurse program, Jensen’s goal is to join the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta Board so that she can continue to advocate for nurses and HCAs. She hopes to return one day to work at Lethbridge College so that she can give students the same support and feeling of accomplishment that she was shown by her instructors.
