A full day of discussions, brainstorming and informed presentations were the highlights of the first Visioning and Leading Outdoor Play in Alberta Symposium, held on Tuesday, Dec. 12, at Lethbridge College. Educational and industry speakers led debate around the benefits of outdoor and unstructured play for children and the best way to adopt and implement strategies that support that goal.

Lethbridge College is going back to basics for its outdoor play space. Located in the heart of the college’s campus, the current yard will be converted to a state-of-the-art outdoor play environment over the next few months.

A decades-old collection that helps identify a wide variety of soil types from across western Canada now resides at Lethbridge College. Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) has donated 110 soil monoliths to the college.
