Ideas and discussion emerge as outdoor play leaders meet at Lethbridge College

A full day of discussions, brainstorming and informed presentations were the highlights of the first Visioning and Leading Outdoor Play in Alberta Symposium, held on Tuesday, Dec. 12, at Lethbridge College. Educational and industry speakers led debate around the benefits of outdoor and unstructured play for children and the best way to adopt and implement strategies that support that goal.

Lethbridge College biology students take part in Coulee Cleanup

It was an eye-opening day of fieldwork for dozens of Lethbridge College biology students in the General Arts and Science program, who gathered in the river valley to not only clean up trash but to document every single piece of litter they recovered. Their involvement in the Helen Schuler Nature Centre’s Coulee Cleanup was part of a class assignment called the Stewardship Project.

Southern Alberta soil comes inside at Lethbridge College to test irrigation properties

Multiple tonnes of southern Alberta’s most common soil types sit inside three massive, custom-built wooden bins at Lethbridge College.
