Lethbridge College research project gets more potatoes from field to market

A new research project at Lethbridge College aims to use cutting-edge near-infrared (NIR) hyperspectral imaging technology to test potato quality more quickly in a way that doesn’t destroy good product. Dr. Chandra Singh, who has recently been promoted to Senior Research Chair in Agricultural Engineering and Technology at Lethbridge College, is leading the three-year, $523,300 project.

The sale of a new home in west Lethbridge has led to an $81,002.65 gift from Stranville Living Master Builder to Lethbridge College as part of the final year of The College Home project. The lead builder and returning partner announced the donation this morning.

Colleges and Institutes Canada named Lethbridge College the recipient of two national awards for excellence, recognizing the “extraordinary contributions” of the college’s Centre for Applied Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship team with a gold award and the Criminal Justice student members of the college’s LEO Club Executive Team with a bronze.
