Lethbridge College spreads warmth in a cold spell

Last week, members of the Lethbridge College community did one of the things they do best — rise up and come together to support others. By the end of the coldest week of 2021, a convergence of partnerships and goodwill from campus provided a hot meal for 75 people and winter clothing for those at risk due to homelessness and hunger for two community groups.

Virtual roundtables help build connectivity between students

Lethbridge College is responding to student concerns about a lack of connectivity among peers by launching The Student Roundtable, a series of sessions running weekly throughout the semester where students are able to log in and connect with other students in an informal setting.

Free gym memberships offered to students to promote mental health

Lethbridge College is offering free Fitness Centre memberships to all students for the Winter 2021 semester. Links between physical and mental health are well established, and this is a step the college can take to ensure students who are in the Lethbridge area have access to gym facilities.

Lethbridge College takes Black History Month celebrations online

Lethbridge College is recognizing and celebrating the history and contributions of its Black community, as Black History Month celebrations move online for 2021. Throughout the month of February, the college will use its website and social media channels to share a variety of stories and resources that highlight the cultures and backgrounds of those who make up the college community.

Instructor's art brings ocean to the Prairies

Environmental Sciences instructor and Aquaculture Centre of Excellence researcher Soba Kaluthota has found a way to bring a bit of the ocean to the Prairies. The ocean lives in the works of art she creates – sandy beaches, frothy surf and sea turtles grace the surfaces of clocks, stools, charcuterie boards and more – each unique painting preserved forever in the glossy finish of epoxy resin.
