A Wider Horizons cover story featuring a long-time Lethbridge College Facilities department employee and alumnus received a bronze award in the Feature Writing category at the CASE District VIII 2018 Communication Awards ceremony. In addition, the Alberta Magazine Publishers Association (AMPA) announced its showcase finalists for the 2018 Alberta Magazine Awards on Monday, and the list included two Wider Horizons features.

Testing Services project soars in first semester
Lethbridge College’s new full-class testing project passed its first semester with flying colours, according to feedback from students and faculty. The temporary facility, established for this project at TE1233, has 40 computers for full-class testing, nine testing booths for students with disabilities requiring accommodations, as well as additional space for pen and paper exams.

From their roots in southern Alberta, Lethbridge College graduates have gone on to have an influence in countless professions and industries around the world. This year, four of those alumni will join an expanding roster of graduates to have earned Honouring Excellence Awards, recognizing alumni who have set themselves apart in their lives, work and communities.
Bell Let’s Talk conversation is well underway on campus
On Wednesday, Jan. 31, Canadians will take to social media to show their support for mental health as part of Bell Let’s Talk Day. The campaign is aimed at driving a national conversation about mental health. At Lethbridge College, that conversation is well underway and its reach to support students and student success is growing thanks to a $365,000 grant from the Government of Alberta’s ministry of Advanced Education.
Ashcroft Design Competition will bring Interior Design students’ designs to life
The Ashcroft Design Challenge officially launched on Thursday in partnership with Lethbridge College. First-year IDT students will come up with an original home design that is unique, innovative and reflective of what modern living in Lethbridge looks like. Those first-year students will then be paired with second-year students who will bring the design to life in virtual reality. Designs will be judged by Ashcroft Master Builder, and the company will then build the winning design, with the designing students working with the team as interns.
