A Lethbridge College director will represent Canada and have global influence in his area of expertise: coaching education.

Jason Donkersgoed, director of LC Extension, has been appointed to the International Coaching Federation (ICF) Coaching Education Global Board of Directors. The prestigious seven-member board is committed to advancing the coaching profession worldwide and includes representatives from Switzerland, China, Puerto Rico, U.S.A. and Canada.

“Jason’s appointment to the ICF Coaching Education Global Board of Directors acknowledges the high level of expertise we have at Lethbridge College,” says Dr. Kenny Corscadden, vice president – academic and research. “Jason’s dedication to serving the needs of our industry partners in southern Alberta through LC Extension is well-established and appreciated. This appointment will allow him to extend those strengths and skills as he represents our region, our college and all of Canada on this board.”

Donkersgoed’s appointment is a nod to his hard work and dedication toward developing Lethbridge College’s Leader as Coach program, which was the first organizational coaching program at a post-secondary institution in Alberta.

“It's a privilege to give back to the coaching community through this appointment,” says Donkersgoed. “As the world around us changes, so does our approach to leadership. Our region has felt the strain of a tight labour market, and recruitment and retention are on the minds of many. Coaching helps to address these challenges by creating positive environments where teams have the opportunity to grow and flourish. So, I'm eternally grateful to everyone who's been part of bringing the Leader as Coach program to life.”

ICF is a global accreditation organization for coaching education, and the Leader as Coach program at Lethbridge College is a Level 1 ICF-accredited coaching course. The program focuses on developing organizational coaching skills for leaders. It is one of many programs offered through LC Extension at the college, which provides professional training and customized courses for multiple industries in southern Alberta.
