Optimizing and Expanding Commercial Aquaponics Systems

Building on a decade of aquaponics experience and at the direct request of industry, Lethbridge College used Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) funding to work directly with commercial aquaponics producers.

The funding was used to optimize industry systems and overcome both existing and potential future issues, such as organic certification and pest management, and experimental aquaponics mini-systems were used to investigate the use of higher value fish species and their suitability for aquaponics.
