Project Description

To create awareness for an industry/post-secondary/ government research collaboration Lethbridge College partnered with Enviro-Span and the City of Lethbridge. The goal was to test the Enviro-Span Modular Culvert System (ESMCS) which aimed to improve structural and environmental stream crossing technology and serve as a marketing tool for the unique industry product.

The ESMCS was designed to be installed with minimal environmental disturbance or degradation. One ESMCS was installed over Six Mile Coulee Creek, located directly behind Lethbridge College. The installation has served as a stream crossing for the City of Lethbridge's public hiking trail system and as an ongoing aquatic testing and training site for Lethbridge College students.

Through this collaboration, Enviro-Span has used the research results to improve and further develop their product for broader application throughout Canada in a variety of industries. The City of Lethbridge saved significant dollars in construction costs utilizing this technology in a difficult to access location.
