Lethbridge College is taking a proactive approach to creating change in the public safety field and Canada’s criminal justice system, by appointing its first President’s Applied Research Chair in Public Safety. Dr. Kirsten Fantazir has been chosen for the role and will work directly with partners to identify knowledge, skill and research gaps in the Canadian public safety industry and create potential solutions.

Lethbridge College Business Admin courses get nod from CPA and grads

For many students, the road to becoming an accountant begins at Lethbridge College, with Business Administration courses that are Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) – approved. CPA is Canada’s only accounting designation. This year, Lethbridge College courses received credit again from CPA, continuing a strong relationship that began many years ago with the former designations of Chartered Accountant, Certified Management Accountant and Certified General Accountant.

Huddling in front of a computer monitor, with fish tanks burbling a few metres away and small seedlings growing in adjacent trays, Lethbridge College Computer Information Technology (CIT) student Shealyn Cossette seems to be right in her element. Cossette, who is completing her CIT diploma over three years as she waited out the pandemic, says the real-world conditions in the Aquaculture Centre of Excellence (ACE) provide a true test of the interfacing and networking skills she’s learning in class.

The floor of the Val Matteotti Gymnasium at Lethbridge College is sporting a brand-new look these days. After years of the status quo, the most recent sanding and refinishing project has revealed a bold, new court. At centre, is a black Kodiaks logo emblazoned over powder-blue stain – a prominent colour of the college’s athletics teams.
