Lethbridge College is pleased to offer The Leadership Challenge workshop based on the bestselling leadership book by James Kouzes and Barry Posner.

The Leadership Challenge workshop is a practical and hands-on workshop designed to inspire, engage, and help participants develop the skills needed to meet whatever leadership challenges that lie ahead.

“The Leadership Challenge is the first book I shared with the College Leadership Council upon my arrival at the college,” says Lethbridge College President and CEO Dr. Paula Burns. “I’m a firm believer in its processes and I’m delighted that we are able to offer this leadership workshop to the communities of southern Alberta.”

The workshops will be facilitated by Jim Brown of Empower Training and Development. Brown has partnered with Lethbridge College for close to five years on various business training programs and workshops.

“I’m especially excited to bring The Leadership Challenge to the college,” says Brown. “The principles and techniques found within the workshop are timeless and can improve the careers of leaders while increasing the overall engagement of all employees.”

The Leadership Challenge workshop will run Nov. 21 and 22 through the Terry Royer Institute – Business Training and Development (BTD). An earlier workshop on this same topic, scheduled for Oct. 24 and 25, has already sold out, so be sure to register early for this learning opportunity.

The cost of the two-day workshop is $797 plus GST. BTD is also offering online access to the 360 Assessment between Sept. 3 and Dec. 20 for $299 plus GST with an exclusive rate of $185 plus GST to those registered in the two-day workshop. The deadline for registration for The Leadership Challenge Workshop is Nov. 7 and seating is limited. Register online at www.lethbridgecollege.ca/conted.

Facilitator Biography

Jim Brown is the owner and principal facilitator at Empower Training and Development. He is an adult education expert trained and certified through St. Francis Xavier University. He has been facilitating training programs for over eight years with a focus on leadership, supervisory, and management skills.

Brown creates unique experiences for each learner attending a workshop. His philosophy is that the genius lies in the content and in the participants. They bring everything needed to achieve great breakthroughs in their career and the facilitator is there to guide them to that discovery. Training should be active, experiential, and, most of all, focused on the learner.

Brown, a native of southern Alberta, was born and raised in the Taber area. After stops in New York and Calgary, he is happy to once again call the Lethbridge area home and he is eager to share the training knowledge he has gained with local organizations. When not catching up on the latest industry news, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, skiing at Castle Mountain, and enjoying the beauty of southwestern Alberta.
