About the Simulation Hub

Lethbridge College’s award-winning Simulation Hub is more than a well-equipped, high-tech lab that mimics an acute care treatment space. The Simulation Hub’s value is also found in instructors who draw from their healthcare work experiences to give students realistic opportunities to put classroom theory into practice. These immersive simulations, whether using programmable manikins or convincing actors, allows students to experience the stress that comes with realistic sights, sounds and smells of people in a health crisis. Students can learn from mistakes in a safe space to be ready for the complex, highly emotional situations they’ll encounter in their chosen professions. The scenarios build confidence and help ensure students are ready for demanding and in-demand careers.

The Simulation Hub supports learning opportunities for students in our Bachelor of Nursing, Bachelor of Nursing After Degree, Health Care Aide, Massage Therapy, Practical Nurse, Primary Care Paramedic, and Therapeutic Recreation Gerontology programs. The Simulation Hub uses manikins, standardized human patients, and technologically advanced high-fidelity simulators to bridge gaps between theory and practice, offer high levels of realism, and promote excellence in education. We offer unique interprofessional simulations and highly realistic scenarios involving industry partners, such as the RCMP Victim Services support canine and handler, highly specialized professionals, community members including children, and several alumni working in their chosen fields as a way of enhancing student experience and hands-on learning.
