CJP-1185  Diverse Populations in Public Safety  (3 Credits)  This course will allow students to analyze the challenges presented by diversity in the communities served by the public safety industry. Various learning activities will be used to develop empathy and promote inclusion as a way to enhance an organization's performance. Students will focus on the recognition, affirmation and reconciliation of various communities. This analysis will include but not be limited to ethnic, racial, linguistic, orientation, class, religious diversity, and varying cognitive and physical abilities. Special attention will be given to explore unconscious and identified bias in order to critically examine the development of professional attitudes in the workplace and community.
