Mental Health First Aid | Regional Campuses
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA),www.mhfa.ca, is the help provided to a person developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. Just as physical first aid is administered to an injured person before medical treatment can be obtained, MHFA is given until appropriate treatment is found or until the crisis is resolved.
Mental Health First Aid Basic is intended for adults interacting with adults (18+). The course focuses on the four most common mental health disorders including substance-related, mood-related, anxiety and trauma-related, and psychotic disorders. Participants who take this course are well prepared to interact confidently about mental health with the family, friends, communities, and workplaces. The course costs $230 plus GST and includes the textbook and lunch on both days. Participants must attend the entire course which is two days from 9 AM – 4 PM.
Important: You must attend the entire course to receive the certification. If you miss any part of the class, you will be required to retake the entire course to get the certification.
