Four Lethbridge College alumni have been recognized with this year’s Honouring Excellence awards. Each of the award recipients has used their Lethbridge College education as a springboard to great careers and extraordinary accomplishments both in Lethbridge and beyond.

Where there is change and disruption, there is opportunity. That is the key message as the 20^th annual Tiffin Conference, hosted by Lethbridge College, takes place on Thursday, Jan. 17, at the Sandman Signature Lethbridge Lodge. Tickets are now available for southern Alberta’s leading conference on issues and trends within the red meat industry.

The Government of Alberta has appointed three members to Lethbridge College’s Board of Governors. Brenda Brindle returns for a second term on the board, and will be joined by first-time members Elaine Dixson and Jamie Fisher.

If the Lethbridge College campus feels busier than usual this year, that’s because it is. The college’s student population has surged for the 2018 fall semester with more than 5,100 students enrolled in college programming, a six per cent increase from fall 2017.

Lethbridge College is dynamic, evolving and growing. This is the feedback received from months of consultations with the college community and partners, and these inspiring and encouraging ideas have formed the basis of Lethbridge College’s new brand campaign.

Lethbridge College now has a dedicated space for members of the LGBTQ+ community and allies to meet and socialize. The Pride Lounge was officially opened by members of the college community, the Lethbridge College Students’ Association’s (LCSA) LGBTQ+ club and Alberta’s Minister of Advanced Education Marlin Schmidt, on Monday morning.

Lethbridge College has received provincial approval for 19 additional seats in its Computer Information Technology program as part of a Government of Alberta initiative to grow technology programming across the province.

Biochar: it’s light, durable, readily accessible and could be a key to zero-waste food production in the world’s greenhouses and aquaponics systems. And a research project at Lethbridge College is testing it as a micro-nanofiltration system in aquaponics.

One year of celebration just wasn’t enough, so Lethbridge College is bringing Coulee Fest back to campus this year. Featuring live music, family fun areas, food trucks, academic showcases, beer gardens and much more, the free Coulee Fest community festival will be held on Saturday, Sept. 15.

Lethbridge College has a mission for those interested in agriculture, innovation and entrepreneurship. The Agriculture Entrepreneur in Residence (AgENT) program will launch in September by pairing students with local industry partners to solve real-world problems that affect the agriculture industry.
