The Government of Alberta has announced four public member board appointments to Lethbridge College’s Board of Governors. Current vice chair of the Board of Governors, Kristine Cassie, has been re-appointed to the board, while Nolan Johnson, Janene Moch and Calvin Scott join the board.

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic will not deter organizers of the Global Game Jam. The annual worldwide event brings together participants at more than 800 locations across more than 100 countries to spend just 48 hours developing either an online or board game.

Enel Green Power has partnered with Lethbridge College to create opportunities in renewable energy for Indigenous learners in southern Alberta. The unique collaboration is designed to support the education of students from the Piikani Nation who are interested in pursuing careers in wind energy.

The college has signed a partnership agreement with Riipen, a Canadian technology platform that facilitates micro-experiential learning opportunities by connecting students to industry partners. Students can work directly with an industry partner to complete work that benefits the partner, while also tying into the program curriculum, counting towards their classwork and academic outcomes.

Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) has appointed Dr. Paula Burns, Lethbridge College President and CEO, as its new board chair. Burns’ two-year appointment will allow her to continue advocating on behalf of Canada’s publicly supported colleges, institutes, cegeps and polytechnics.

The Alberta Colleges Economic Recovery Task Force has released its final recommendations after months of work. The Task Force’s findings reinforce that Alberta’s colleges are ideally positioned to work with key partners to address economic development challenges across the province.

An agreement with the Government of Alberta’s Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry will help Lethbridge College build upon its strengths as an applied research institution. The $2 million agreement adds established infrastructure and experienced staff members to the college’s applied research team and resources, increasing the college’s research capacity while benefitting all Albertans in the agriculture industry.  

A Lethbridge College researcher is asking Lethbridge College international students whose first language is not English how their hope is affected by online learning.

Lethbridge College has been preparing for the upcoming semester by providing faculty members with many resources which will help them thrive in a new flexible learning environment, and focus on the success of their students.

Flexibility to allow students to follow their passions is at the centre of changes to Lethbridge College’s Agriculture Sciences program. The changes to the program will allow students to graduate from Lethbridge College better prepared for a fulfilling career supporting the agriculture industry in southern Alberta and beyond.
