Security training provides career development opportunities for Siksika residents

Eleven Siksika residents are benefiting from specialized career training thanks to their participation in the Security Guard and Workplace Essential Skills Training program. A unique partnership between Siksika Employment and Training Services (SETS) and Lethbridge College’s LC Extension, the six-week program provided interested individuals an opportunity to become a certified security guard in Alberta, while developing additional employability skills.

Lethbridge College renews partnership with world-renowned safety training company

Lethbridge College and TEAM-1 Academy Inc. are building on an already successful partnership by announcing a renewed four-year agreement that will ensure students in the Wind Turbine Technician program continue to receive the best safety training possible. The latest commitment by TEAM-1 Academy is valued at $131,480 and follows a similar three-year agreement announced in 2019.

Lethbridge College, Borea team up to make wind construction training accessible

A new partnership with one of Canada’s leading renewable energy construction companies continues to affirm Lethbridge College’s reputation as one of Canada’s leaders in wind energy training. Borea Construction and Lethbridge College have collaborated to offer three two-week training sessions for new Borea employees in the college’s Wind Turbine Technician lab.

Skills study identifies growth areas for southwest Alberta economy

A new study will help point the way forward for southwestern Alberta’s economic growth. The final results of the Southwest Alberta Regional Skills Study have been released and they show opportunities to enhance skills development throughout the region to support economic growth, particularly during the region’s COVID-19 economic recovery.

Lethbridge College receives federal funding to create Technology Access Centre

Lethbridge College is ready to help the agriculture industry after receiving one of the most significant applied research grants in the college’s history. The $1.75 million five-year renewable grant will be used to create the Integrated Agriculture Technology Centre (IATC), which will help farmers, growers and food processors across the country tap into the latest research and recognized expertise at the college.

Campaign launched to promote local workforce discussion

The Lethbridge Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with Economic Development Lethbridge and supported by Lethbridge College and the University of Lethbridge, are launching #HireTogetherYQL. The campaign is aimed at opening adiscussion between employers and employees.
