Michael Doughty, funding specialist in Student Awards and Financial Aid, recommends a lesser known Will Ferrell film this week. Stranger Than Fiction (2006) also stars Emma Thompson, Dustin Hoffman and Queen Latifah. Ferrell plays Harold Krick, a mild-mannered IRS auditor who suddenly hears a voice in his head and finds himself the protagonist in an author's yet-to-be-written novel. When he discovers that the writer intends to kills his character, Krick races to convince the author to change the ending and spare his life. Fans of Groundhog Day will appreciate how the most ordinary daily events become crucial life-altering moments.

Standing ovation for Michael Doughty for recommending this movie at a time when many of us feel like our own lives are stranger than fiction. Well played, good sir.
