In the 1940s, R.W. Tiffin first broke ground on 1,000 acres of prairie for dryland grain farming not knowing if he would succeed. Some 70 years later, the agriculture community is still working hard to find success.
The annual Tiffin Conference, January 20 at Lethbridge College, will explore best practices for success during volatile times. A wide array of speakers will touch on varied topics throughout the day.
Mike Whitlock, president of Tannian Consulting Inc., will explain how to maximize profit, performance and payback.
Earl Geddes, executive director of the Canadian International Grains Institute, will touch on the global demographic impact on the livestock industry.
After dinner, guests will be treated to a weather forecast unlike those on the evening news, from David Phillips, a senior climatologist with Environment Canada.
Tickets for the conference are $95, or $300 for a group of four. Students pay $100, which includes the second Tiffin Conference in March. General tickets are available through the City of Lethbridge Ticket Centre locations at the Enmax Centre or Yates Memorial Centre, or at 403 329-7328. Student tickets are available at Lethbridge College, or by calling 320-3323.
