Lethbridge College has chosen this year’s recipient of the Troy Reeb Internship for its Communication Arts program. Kirsten Allen, a second year student within the program, will spend ten days in Toronto at the Shaw Media headquarters beginning April 6.

"I am pleased to say that Kirsten is the first Ad/PR student to be selected for this opportunity," says Troy Reeb, Shaw Media, vice president, news. "The internship has now offered major media network opportunities to students from all facets of the Communication Arts program. I continue to be impressed with the increasing calibre of the students applying from Lethbridge College."

Allen will spend her time in Toronto with the marketing team as they put together promotional campaigns for network TV shows, and the advertising sales team to see how ad agencies and media buyers put together multi-million dollar deals.

Honoured to be chosen as this year’s recipient, Allen considers it’s an exciting opportunity to work with professionals in her field of study as it will provide her with invaluable experience when she enters the workforce.

“It's great Mr. Reeb recognizes the role that Lethbridge College has played in his own career and is willing to provide students with an opportunity they may never receive otherwise.”

Students provide a story proposal, resume and their academic record to be considered for the internship.  The recipient is then chosen after qualifying candidates have been interviewed.

We are thrilled to be supporting the Troy Reeb Internship,” says Sandra Dufresne, Lethbridge College Office of Alumni coordinator. “It’s a unique opportunity that provides a student with a big-city practicum experience that would normally only be available to students in larger centers. Troy does this to ensure students from Lethbridge College have the same competitive edge as those coming from larger schools.”
