New innovation space opens

Lethbridge College will celebrate the opening of The Pivot, a space dedicated to collaboration and innovation to support our student-entrepreneurs. The Pivot is located on the second floor of our Trades, Technologies and Innovation Facility. Drop in to tour the space at 2 p.m. Be introduced to the Centre for Applied Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CARIE) at 3:30 p.m. and then hear from our guest speaker, Ken Bautista, at 4:30 p.m. Tickets are free but required for our guest speaker. Bautista is a partner at Makespace, a global development company. His topic will be the power of space for building community.

Meet our new high-fidelity manikins

Lethbridge College’s SPHERE lab (Simulated Patient Health Environment for Research and Education) will hold meet and greets to introduce college employees to our newest residents Simon and Simone, two high-fidelity manikins. The college’s manikins are replaced regularly to ensure students have access to the latest technology as they practise highly realistic patient scenarios. Students in the Bachelor of Nursing, the accelerated Bachelor of Nursing – After Degree, Practical Nurse, Primary Care Paramedic, Therapeutic Recreation Gerontology and Health Care Aide programs will use SPHERE to enhance their hands-on training. Meet and greets are planned in the SPHERE Lab (TE2214):

  • 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 23
  • 10 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, Sept. 24
  • 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 25
  • 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 26

Massage Therapy Clinic opens

The Lethbridge College Massage Therapy Clinic opens for the first time this term. The clinic serves students, staff and the public, providing professional quality massage services while giving Massage Therapy students valuable practice. The clinic is open from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays, except on holidays and during community events. Anyone can book an appointment by calling 403-329-7274. Clinic rates range from $20 for 30 minutes to $45 for 90 minutes. Massage services provided at the clinic are not tax-deductible nor can they be reimbursed through insurance.

Enjoy Lunch Express in the Garden Court Restaurant

Students in Lethbridge College’s Culinary program will gain valuable experience running the Garden Court Restaurant, starting by offering Lunch Express for just six dates this fall. Lunch express offers you a quick three-course dining experience all during a lunch hour and for just $17.59, which includes the GST. Naloxone training offered on campus

Lethbridge College students, employees and the public are welcome to attend free Naloxone training, offered by Lethbridge ARCHES staff. This overdose prevention training is part of a harm reduction initiative by Alberta Health in response to the Fentanyl crisis. Participants will learn how to detect an opiod overdose and how to respond. Those who complete the training will receive a certificate and will have access to Naoloxone kits from ARCHES. Participants should register in advance.

Kodiaks host Ambrose in soccer action

The Lethbridge College Kodiaks soccer teams will play host to the Ambrose University Lions. The women’s action begins at noon with the men’s match at 2 p.m. at the Servus Sports Centre field. You can catch the action for free.
