Provide input on post-secondary students’ mental health standard

Lethbridge College’s Learning Café and Accessibility Services departments will play host to a workshop to discuss issues and collect feedback on the Mental Health Commission of Canada’s (MHCC) Post-Secondary Students Standard. This session is open to any stakeholders interested or informed about supporting or promoting post-secondary student mental health, including Lethbridge College staff, students, parents and faculty. To thank you for your time and input, lunch will be provided courtesy of the MHCC. Silvana Campus will be facilitating the workshop in the Learning Cafe Solarium (at the back of the Buchanan Library). Please register in advance to attend.

According to the Mental Health Commission, 75 per cent of first-time mental health diagnoses occur between the ages of 16 and 25; 50 per cent of students use campus mental health services, with 10 per cent being seen in urgent or crisis situations. The commission is working in collaboration with the Canadian Standards Association to develop a standard on psychological health and safety for post-secondary students.
