LC-Summer Camps.jpg Whether it’s discovering a new passion, experiencing hands-on learning or just having fun, Lethbridge College has a summer camp for everyone. The college offers a diverse mix of sessions on campus throughout July and August for participants aged six to 16.

Not only do those taking part have a chance to develop new skills and hobbies, but they also get to see how those talents can lead into their future post-secondary aspirations.

“It gives parents a break, but also allows kids to do things in the summer that expand their mind and learn new skills,” says Mike McCready, Multimedia Production instructor.

Campers can explore various activities including: sports camps run by Kodiaks athletics, culinary arts, character animation, video game design, art and fashion, renewable energy and more. The sessions are designed to not only provide a fun learning environment but also develop practical skills.

“We have a culinary camp for teenagers that teaches them basic cooking skills, such as meat cutting, meat cooking, desserts, bakeshop, soups and sauces,” says Stephen Klassen, Culinary Arts instructor. “Regardless whether they become cooks and chefs, I think cooking is a good life skill to learn. Everybody needs to be able to eat, so learning basic skills can help you make suppers at home and help out mom and dad.”

Participants are not required to have any previous experience in their area of interest. All programs include foundational training and campers will leave with a new set of skills, confidence and independence.

“We’re doing a character animation camp,” says McCready. “We’re also launching a new video game design camp that gives teenagers a basic introduction to what would be involved in creating their own video game. An interest in, and some experience with, computers would be ideal but not necessary. Also an interest in creativity, whether it’s traditional creativity or digital creativity go a long way in both camps.”

The unique offering of activities, qualified staff and wide variety make the Lethbridge College summer day camps the number one choice for summer fun. Check out lethbridgecollege.ca/summercamps for a full list of available programs, dates and prices.
