In a year like no other, Lethbridge College alumni have stepped up in countless ways to serve the communities where they live and work – just as they have since the college first opened its doors in 1957.
Now is the chance to help the college recognize its most accomplished alumni, as nominations are open for the annual Honouring Excellence alumni awards. The college wants to recognize those alumni who have made a difference as leaders, innovators, creators and community-builders.
“Year after year the Alumni Advisory Council comes together to review the submissions for Honouring Excellence and we continue to be impressed with our graduates and what they go on to do in so many different fields,” says Jordan Karst, Alumni Advisory Council chair. “Leaders, innovators, hard workers and skilled graduates leave Lethbridge College every year and do amazing things around the world. It's our honour to hear their stories, journeys and accomplishments and to recognize them for what they have done.”
The four awards include:
- Distinguished Alumni - this prestigious award recognizes college graduates who have separated themselves in their chosen careers, made a significant contribution to their communities, and demonstrated service to the college and its students.
- Career Virtuoso - presented to alumni who have made significant contributions to their professional fields through their diligence, talent and dedication.
- Community Leader - presented to alumni who have made contributions to their communities through their work or personal interests.
- Rising Star - presented to alumni who, within 10 years of graduation from Lethbridge College, have demonstrated many forms of success in their professions.

The 2020 recipients were Distinguished Alumni Jacquie Daumont (Renewable Resource Management 1986), Career Virtuoso Obed Maurice (Business Administration 2000), Community Leader Marci Neher-Schwengler (Nursing 1988) and Rising Star Joshua Day Chief (Environmental Assessment and Restoration 2013).
