Rob Bernshaw- Automotive Service Technology 1993
Since graduation, Rob has earned a diploma in Telecommunications Technology from NAIT and works as an offsite service vehicle operator for the Alberta Motor Association in Edmonton. He maintains an active interest in electronics and telecommunications and attends the annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. He stays active in his community volunteering for Santa’s Anonymous Toy Run and with the AMA Safety Patrol. Rob was chosen as an Olympic torch bearer and will carry the Olympic flame near Grassy Lake this month as it makes its way to Vancouver.
Chris Broughton- Business Administration- Management 2007
Chris recently finished his term as president of the
Management Students’ Society at the University of Lethbridge, an experience which allowed him to travel the country and represent Lethbridge. He is finishing his degree and will graduate in May. He is employed with Precon, a growing concrete company in Lethbridge, as human resources co-ordinator and health and safety officer. He writes, “My experience at the college, with interactive learning and applicable knowledge, has allowed me to succeed at the university and in my career.”
Brian English- Criminal Justice – Policing 1991
After graduation, Brian began a policing career in Manitoba, serving Cornwallis, Altona, East St. Paul and, finally the Rivers police department. He completed his B.Sc. from Great Falls, Mont. in 2000. In 2001 he began full-time farming on his family’s century farm outside of
Rivers, Man. He grows cereal, oilseed, for ages and runs a cow/calf-to-finish operation. He uses his Lethbridge College taught investigative techniques in his work in the compliance department for the Manitoba Agricultural Services Corporation out of the Hamiota office. He has been married to Leanne for 11 years and they have two boys, Connor and Brendan.
D. Jeff Heggie- Business Administration 1999
Jeff competed on the college’s rodeo team and twice was the Canadian Intercollegiate Rodeo Association Year-End
Steer Wrestling Champion and once the Finals Champion.
He continued on to rodeo professionally for several years. After a career at ATB Financial where he became a manager, Jeff left the banking industry in 2005 and started his own business, Kodiak Mountain Stone (www.
kodiakmountain.com), which provides manufactured stone veneer for fireplaces, home fronts, etc. His business has expanded and his production plant is in Springville, Ut, while he maintains his head office in Cardston. Business is growing significantly with orders shipping out as far as Guam and Hawaii. Jeff is married to Tamara and they have three children (Tia, Daxon and Jovi). He supports the Adopt-a-Kodiak program and has lectured at the college. He writes, “I enjoyed my time at the college and appreciate what I got out of it.”
Nathanael Lockhart- Business Administration- Management 2009
Following convocation, Nathanael and his sister flew to Dubai to start a five-week Middle East backpacking trip. He spent time in Dubai, Israel (where they ran into a family friend from Lethbridge), Jordan and several locations in Egypt. Three days after his return, he started his job at Ellis Fabrications in Red Deer where he is financial operations manager. The position covers daily accounting, payroll and overall office operation. He writes, “I want to thank Lethbridge College for delivering such high-caliber information as well as fostering a great learning environment. I am continually shocked at how well Lethbridge College prepared me for my first job.”
Kevin McNeil- Meat Cutting 1985
After his time at the college, Kevin attended the University of Lethbridge and took additional studies on Vancouver Island. Married with two children, Kevin owns Blue Sky Outfitting (www.blueskyoutfitting.com), a full-service guide/outfitter in the Peace River region of northern Alberta, known as the best of the best areas in North America for waterfowl, whitetail and mule deer hunting. Dustin Wells- Renewable Resource Management 1999, Fish and Wildlife Technology 2001
Dustin works as an environment specialist for Suncor’s Firebag plant, 100 kilometres northeast of Fort McMurray, and is responsible for educating operations on licensing and approvals and for maintaining contacts with numerous government agencies. He also monitors and tests ambient air quality, surface water runoff, ground water wells and soil for possible contamination. He works seven days in and seven days out; his time off is spent at his home in Brandon, Man. with Hollie, his wife of eight years, and their children, Reid, 6, and Lili, 4.
