The Lethbridge Police Service just issued a helpful list of the creative scams making the rounds as fraudsters try to take advantage of the global pandemic. They run the gamut from the door-to-door sales of phony decontamination products or COVID-19 tests, bogus calls claiming you’ve tested positive for COVID-19 and asking for credit card information. Please check out this long list of scam variations compiled by Lethbridge Police so you can avoid falling in a trap of miracle cures, threats of being cut off from utilities and other services, and bogus romance scams making the rounds during self-isolation.

The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre also has a page devoted to COVID-19 scams. The centre encourages you to contact local police if you’ve been a victim of fraud, and to report your experience through the centre’s online Fraud Reporting System.
