Donate career-ready clothes to college students

Lethbridge College Student Services and Lethbridge College Students’ Association are joining forces to create “Career Closet.” From now to Sunday, March 24, donations of gently used clothes, shoes or accessories can be dropped off at the LCSA office. The clothes, suitable for everything from office jobs to trades, will be displayed at a Career Closet event on March 28, giving students access to clothing for job interviews and first jobs. Donations should be clean and ready for hanging and display.

Bridging Cultures event celebrates our diversity

Lethbridge College’s popular food fair and festival of cultures, Bridging Cultures, returns to the Val Matteotti Gymasium. The event includes food stations featuring food from around the world, entertainers and exhibitors showcasing our diverse community. Tickets are just $5 for access to the food fair. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Lethbridge College Students’ Association office, Culinary Market and Bookstore. Exhibits and entertainment are free. This festival is being held on March 21, the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.

Lethbridge Squash Pro-Am Tournament hits LC courts

The ScotiaMcLeod/Charleton & Hill Pro-Am Squash Tournament returns to Lethbridge College for a second year. Sixteen pro players representing 11 countries are expected to compete in the Professional Squash Association Challenger Tour event. Pro play starts at 1 p.m., Thursday. Lethbridge College celebrates Bright Ideas

Lethbridge College’s Educational Development Team will hold a Bright Ideas wine and cheese reception in the Buchanan Library to showcase initiatives in student learning, collaborative projects and other great work. This is a chance to share great ideas with colleagues. A similar celebration was held in November.

Conference brings together early childhood ed experts

The 2019 Early Childhood Education Conference has a theme of Play, Democracy and Language with Young Children: Honouring Young Children’s Instincts in Early Learning and Child Care. Presented by the Child Care Directors’ Association of Southwest Alberta, the conference at Lethbridge College will feature several presentations by Tom “Teacher Tom” Hobson, known for his Teacher Tom’s Blog. A session on Friday, March 22 is only for child care directors. Registration for the Saturday session is through the Southern Alberta Professional Development Consortium.
