The Terminal (2004), directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Tom Hanks, is inspired by the true story of an international traveller who is suddenly left stranded in an airport when he is denied entry to the United States but, due to a military coup, can’t return home. For nine months, he lives in the airport terminal, befriending staff and fellow travellers.
