Credit Seminar

Description – Provided by Mark Kalinowski of Credit Counseling Society, attendees can expect to learn: How to open a bank account and what to consider when choosing a bank, why budgets are important, and how to create and maintain good credit

  • Poverty Simulation
    Description: A Poverty Simulation is a unique and powerful experience which challenges perceptions, changes perspectives and strengthens understanding and empathy. Participants experience a full range of encounters, obstacles and challenges, while trained volunteers populate the simulation as business owners, teachers, police officers, agency workers, service providers and government employees. The simulation replicates a month in the life of a family living in poverty. The ultimate mission of each of these families is to access food, shelter and other basic needs with a limited income.

    • Description: Home made pasta and all the trimmings

Student Loan Information Session

Description: Whether you already have a student loan or you haven’t even considered it, we will reveal some relatively unknown tips around borrowing – we will help those who have a loan understand it and ensure that those who do not understand student loans learn what they may be missing out on. Come expecting to leave with facts around who’s eligible, why these are far more desirable than lines credit, and how and when (you still can!) to apply.

Healthy Eating on a Budget

  • Description: Presented by Robyn Jonassen- Armstrong from the Interfaith Food Bank, come watch and learn how to eat well and keep some money in your wallet. Lunch will be made during the presentation so come expecting to leave with food, some basic savvy shopping strategies and some new cooking and eating know-how!
