Your academic standing is the result of your academic performance in a given term. It is based on your term grade-point average (GPA) and determines your eligibility to register in a future term. For each term, you will be assigned one of six academic standings below:

  1. With Great Distinction (President’s List)
    1. GPA 4.0
    2. Must be a full-time student completing a minimum of 9 credits and with no incomplete grades (I) for the term to qualify.
  2. With Distinction (Dean’s List)
    1. GPA 3.75-3.99
    2. Must be a full-time student completing a minimum of 9 credits and with no incomplete grades (I) for the term to qualify.
  3. Honours
    1. GPA 3.5 or higher
  4. Good
    1. GPA 1.5 or higher
  5. Probation
    1. GPA below 1.5
    2. Academic probation is a cautionary notice that a student’s performance has been deficient and needs to improve for continued registration.
  6. Disqualified
    1. GPA below 1.5 for 2 consecutive terms
    2. Students who have been disqualified will carry the Disqualified designation on their academic record and will be withdrawn and prohibited from further registration.

Academic Standing is assessed starting at the end of each term, once all of your final grades have been submitted:

  • Fall (Sept - Dec) = end of December
  • Winter (Jan - Apr) = end of April
  • Spring (May - Jun) = end of June
  • Summer (May - Aug) = end of August
  • Summer (July - Aug) = end of August

Can my Academic Standing change?

Academic Standing is recalculated when grade changes are submitted and approved for a specific term.
