Kris Hodgson is an instructor in the Digital Communications and Media program and has been a writer and photographer for various publications across western Canada for the last 16 years. The completion of work on his master’s degree in Virtual Reality/360-degree journalism (2017) from the University of Alberta in the Communication and Technology program (MACT) kick-started applied research opportunities at Lethbridge College in the fall of 2017. This exciting research applies to the ever-evolving world of journalism and its adjustments to a new medium.
Kris was born and raised in Saskatoon before moving to Langley, B.C., in 1993. Since 2001 he has lived and/or worked in Parksville, Westlock, Athabasca, Beaumont, Devon, Leduc and Nisku before arriving in Lethbridge in 2009 to work for Economic Development Lethbridge. Since coming to Lethbridge College in 2010, Kris has worked for the Business Training Centre and the International Wind Energy Academy promoting renewable energy across southern Alberta. He has been an instructor in the Digital Communications and Media program for the past five years where he has loved to share his passion for journalism with his students.

Current research project
Storytelling in journalism has always been intrinsic to a great news piece and 360-degree journalism takes this to a new level. By working with students in the Digital Communications and Technology program at Lethbridge College, along with observing how various demographics adopt 360-degree journalism, Kris hopes to learn how Lethbridge Campus Media will integrate this technology into stories.
