Student Support

The library houses a range of materials and people that will help you in many ways; here, you can:

  • Find materials, both physical and electronic, for your assignments (or find people to help you find them)
  • Get help with an interlibrary loan request
  • Print, scan, photocopy
  • Borrow laptops, phone chargers, cords and cables
  • Find specialty items (like anatomical models and nursing equipment), textbooks, or other items placed on reserve for your class
  • Reset passwords (requires a Student ID, government-issued ID, or accurate answers to security questions)
  • Front-line tech and Canvas support
  • Visit the Learning Café in the library for in-depth support with assignments, APA [add link], and accessibility services

And whenever you’re on campus, enjoy the space designed for your needs, whether they be group study, individual study, or relaxing between classes (or after a hefty exam).

Finding Open Educational Resources

Open Education Resources can be extremely helpful tools in learning, but they can also provide you with access to pictures and videos in the public domain that you can use and modify (with proper citation). We've put together a Padlet to organize some of the repositories for these resources.

Borrowing library materials

Registered students, faculty and staff sign out items from the Buchanan Library with their student ID card, a valid government-issued ID, or accurate answers to security questions.

Fines

There are no fines for late returns on the majority of the collection. An item may be considered lost if it is not returned within 30 days after its due date and the cost of the item will be added to the account – that cost is removed once the item is returned.

Fines are levied for high-circulation items such as reserves or laptops. In the event that an account accrues more than $30 in fines or lost items, that account will be locked and the account holder will not be able to register for new classes, graduate, or check out new library materials.
