Campus holds info session with research funding partners

Applied research Industry partners and researchers from across campus met with representatives from three funding agencies at an information session organized by Lethbridge College April 26.

Representatives from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), Alberta Innovates and Mitacs participated in the hour-long session to talk about the ways these organizations support research and innovation with a range of partners.

NSERC is a federal organization that supports research and development at universities and colleges across Canada to the tune of about $1.1 billion annually. Alberta Innovates is a provincial Crown corporation that works with partners to diversify the provincial economy in core sectors of health, environment, energy, food and fibre. Mitacs is a national, not-for-profit organization that recently began accepting research proposals from colleges. Mitacs has an internship program that financially supports opportunities for students to participate in research off campus within an industry partner’s organization.
