Vice President Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer
Simon was named Vice President Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer in May 2010. He brings significant business experience to his role as a key member of senior management, working collaboratively with college leadership to guide decisions for sustainable institutional success and responsible stewardship of resources.
Born in the United Kingdom, Simon received his high school and university education in South Africa. He has held senior level positions in various private and public sector organizations and was an equity partner in a firm of chartered accountants. He has also worked as a financial consultant in central government, for the U.K. National Health Service, and for private media and biotech companies. He served as chair of Child Welfare – Johannesburg and is currently a member of the Lethbridge Police Commission.
Simon earned a Bachelor of Accounting Science degree and an Honours Bachelor of Accounting Science degree, both from the University of South Africa. He is a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants, a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), and a member of the Faculty of Financial Management of ICAEW.
Simon is responsible for the leadership, direction and management of corporate services and finance at Lethbridge College, including the broad management of:
- technology requirements and infrastructure
- student services
- facilities management
- corporate and continuing education
- enterprise risk management
- legal affairs
- collective bargaining for employee groups
