We’re inviting alumni and current students to cruise onto campus to watch The Goonies under the stars.

Lethbridge College Alumni Engagement and Fresh Air Cinema are excited to present the 2021 Movie on the Coulees!

Gates will open at 5:30 p.m. for the first showing and 8:30 for the second. The Goonies will be playing at both features and will run for 1 hour and 55 minutes.

Tickets are free and must be obtained in advance. Space is limited to 115 vehicles per show. There will be no drive-up or foot traffic allowed.

Cars will be parked on a first-come-first-served basis - except for over-sized vehicles, which may be asked to park in designated areas. Every spot will be able to see the screen and hear the movie. To ensure the health and safety of all moviegoers, the guidelines below will be in place and enforced:

One ticket per vehicle is required. All occupants inside the vehicle must be from the same household.

  • No concession or food services are available on site. Please bring your own snacks and beverages. Portable washrooms will be available for patrons.
  • All occupants must remain inside the vehicle unless using the washroom facilities.

The event will take place in parking lot F just off 30th Ave. Event signs will be placed at all major campus junctions.

Drive In Movie FAQ

Can I buy tickets at the gate?

No. All tickets must be purchased in advance, and tickets will not be available at the event. Tickets are available on Eventbrite.

How do I gain entry to the event?

Moviegoers are encouraged to print their confirmation ticket (with QR code) and place it on their front dash for easy scanning. If you do not have access to a printer, please have the ticket’s QR code pulled up on your smartphone so event volunteers can scan this upon entry. We will try to scan through the car windows, but we may require you to roll down your window so event volunteers can access the QR code. Entry to the event will be contactless. Event volunteers will maintain social-distancing and wear face coverings while checking moviegoers in.

When does the movie start?

The gates will open at 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. The movie will begin as soon as it is dark enough to do so.

Can I access campus buildings while at the event?

No. Access to campus buildings will be restricted.

Where on campus is the event?

The event will take place on the in parking lot F just off 30th Ave. Event signs will be placed at all major campus junctions.

Are there outdoor seating areas for walk in moviegoers?

No. You must be in a vehicle to enter. Due to COVID-19, we are prohibited from having a sitting area.

Should I turn off my car lights and taillights?

Yes! It is distracting to all other patrons if your lights are on. Every car is different so please refer to your owner’s manual if you are unsure how to do this.

Can we reserve spots in advance?

No. Entry is first-come, first-served. If you want to park near your friends, you must arrive together. Please note that you will not be permitted to car hop throughout the event. Any parties engaging in this behavior will be asked to leave, for the safety of all in attendance.

Can I choose my own parking spot?

Yes. We simply ask that you respect those cars around you to ensure all patrons can see the film from their vehicles. We ask those driving large vehicles to park near the back or on the far-left side of the event and please try to not park in front of a small car.

How do we hear the movie?

The movie can be listened to through your vehicles FM radio. The radio channel will be provided to you upon arrival.

How many people are allowed in a vehicle?

You must adhere to the stated capacity of your vehicle. We will welcome one person for every seat in your vehicle

Can I leave the movie at any time?

Yes, you are allowed to exit the movie at any time. You can exit through the same gate that you entered. Please follow the exit signs.

Can we exit our vehicles during the movie?

You are only allowed to leave your vehicle to go to the washroom or in the event of an emergency.

Can I leave my car running during the movie?

No, car idling is not permitted to ensure the comfort and safety of those around you.

Does my engine have to be on to use my radio?

No! Most vehicles can run auxiliary power without the engine being on. Every car is different so please refer to your owner’s manual if you are unsure how to do this.

What if my car battery dies?

Portable battery boosters will be available for those that need them. Please find the closest event volunteer and they will assist you with restarting your vehicle.

Where can we go to the washroom?

Washrooms are located at both ends of the parking lot. Wash and sanitation stations will be conveniently located at both bathroom locations. Disinfectant wipes will be available at each bathroom. Movie goers are encouraged to wipe down the facilities both before and after use.

Are we required to wear face masks?

Masks or face coverings are required when exiting your vehicle to use the washroom. Masks are not required while inside your vehicle.

Are outside food and drinks allowed?

Absolutely! Bring your favourite snacks – just don’t try to share with the cars beside you! We do ask that you make as few trips out of your vehicle as possible, so please hold your trash until the end of the event. Please dispose of any trash in the designated bins.

Can we purchase food and drinks?

We will not be operating a concession. Movie goers are encouraged to bring their own snacks.

Are alcohol and drugs permitted?

Alcohol and/or drugs are not permitted at the event. Any patron caught using either substance will be asked to leave the event immediately.

Is smoking allowed?

Smoking is permitted if you remain in your vehicle and follow all municipal, provincial and federal regulations.

Is there an age restriction?

All ages are welcome; however, the feature movie is rated PG-13. This rating is a caution for parents that content included may not be appropriate for children under 13. Event volunteers will not be verifying age of attendees, parents and guardians are responsible for ensuring that those children in attendance are comfortable with the subject matter.

What if the weather is bad?

If the weather conditions are deemed unacceptable by the service provider, the event will be postponed and/or cancelled.

Can I sit outside?

Due to social distancing protocols we ask that all moviegoers remain in their vehicle. However, you can sit in the box of your truck or park your SUV backwards and open your hatch. Please keep at least a 6-foot distance from others for the health and safety of everyone attending.

Can I bring my pets?

Your furry friends may accompany you to the event, but they must remain in your car. Walking your animal around the event is not permitted.

What happens in the event of an emergency?

If there is an emergency, exit through the same gate that you entered. In the unlikely event of an emergency, please remain calm and exit the parking lot in a safe and orderly way.

Is each person in the car required to register for the event?

No, each car will only be required to have one ticket. However, to support public health contact tracing efforts if an attendee tests positive, we must collect a name and contact information for a member of each car.

  • Any personal information that is collected for COVID-19 contact tracing will only be used for this purpose.
  • Information about attendees will only be requested by Alberta Health Services if a potential exposure occurs onsite.
