September 18-22 is Consent Awareness Week. The purpose of this week is to bring awareness of what is consent and to support survivors of Gender-Based and Sexual Violence (GBSV).
Wellness Services is providing a week of activities from free workshops to help you help your friends, to free plants! Check it all out below:
Week-long
We will be encouraging you to Help Us Grow A Community of Consent with the distribution of free plants throughout the week. Each day will see free plants distributed, while supplies last, in a different building on campus.
A #SurvivorLoveLetters campaign will be taking place outside of Wellness Services. The whole campus community is invited to stop by and take paper to create as simple or as long of an anonymous letter to themselves or an unknown survivor of GBSV. These will be hung on the wall outside the Wellness Services office. Completed letters can be artistic, one sentence, or whatever the author wishes. There are many examples online if you search the hashtag. Letters can be dropped off on the table or to the Wellness Services desk once completed.
Monday
We will have an Instagram takeover for Consent Awareness Week where we share some of the activities going on and share information about the supports that exist on the College campus. Please share!
Tuesday
Tuesday September 19th is #WeBelieveYouDay so we will be offering two free 30 min virtual workshops for students on Responding to Disclosures (9 am and 1 pm). You can sign up here (the Event Calendar) for the Zoom link and for more information.
Wednesday
Chinook Sexual Assault Centre will have a booth at the monthly LCSA UniTea event.
Friday
City Hall will be lit up in teal tonight for Consent Awareness Week. If you are downtown, take photos and share on your social media to highlight this important week to your friends and family.
