Designed for those who are not yet employed or apprenticed within the trades, these training programs provide the first year of the Alberta apprenticeship curriculum as well as various safety certificates. Successful completion of pre-employment training prepares you to write the first-year apprenticeship exam.
 

Powerline Technician

Powerline technicians play a vital role in ensuring the reliable delivery of electricity to homes and businesses across the country. Our pre-employment program provides extensive hands-on and theoretical training in the utility electrical field related to overhead and underground distribution installations. Over twelve weeks, you’ll cover all of the material in the first-year Powerline Technician Apprenticeship exam curriculum and receive additional safety training and employability skills. You’ll even have a chance to put your skills into practice during a two-week practicum.
