SOC-2250 Sociology of Sports - 3.00 credits

SOC-2250  Sociology of Sports  (3 Credits)  This course examines topics beyond game scores and player performance and encourages students to think critically about sports, how it is influenced by social and cultural contexts, how sports shape our lives, and the relationship between sports and social institutions. Important issues such as violence, cheating, and hazing as well as issues of inequality and the relationship between social classes, gender, race and participation are also critically examined.
